In the latest figures produced by Statistics Portugal, between January and April, the UK remained the main country of origin and destination of flights into the country’s airports.
They were followed by France, Spain, Germany. Brazil was next in terms of country of origin and Italy for country of destination.
The figures were buoyed by April’s traveller figures, which revealed 6.6 million passengers passed through Portugal’s national airports.
That’s up 2.1% year-on-year and up 4.3% on March.

There’s a push too to boost domestic tourism.
In May, Turismo de Portugal unveiled its ‘Look No Future, Discover Your Country’ initiative.
The campaign, which is being heavily marketed in the shoulder seasons of May to June and again in September to November, will include advertising across TV, radio and digital platforms.
